Even though both the energy of F adsorption on Pd and the energy of Pd−F bonds in stoichiometric fluorides are absent in the literature, analysis of the available data on the energetics of the fluorine−metal bonding allows one to conclude that the energy of the Pd−F bond is not less than 100 kcal mol-1(Handbook of Chemistry and Physics; 73rd Edition; CRC Press:  Boca Raton, FL, 1992−1993), whereas the heat of dissociative H2adsorption on Pd is only 28 kcal mol-1(Anderson, J. R.Structure of Metallic Catalysts; Academic Press:  London, 1975).
