Abstract

Measurement of the photoneutron cross section 44Ca(y, n,) has been made over the photon energy range 11-26 MeV. Comparison with the 44Ca(y, p) cross section shows evidence for isospin splitting of the giant dipole resonance (GDR) in agreement with predictions. Some evidence has also been found for deformation splitting of the'44Ca GDR.
