HACIA LA JUSTICIA GLOBAL AMBIENTAL: UNA PERSPECTIVA DE MÉXICO
Abstract
This study argues that climate change and the human right to a healthy environment are closely linked and should serve as a catapult to hasten global responses. The environmental deterioration caused by climate change and other factors leads to a direct violation of the human right to a healthy environment. In this context, in view of the increasing environmental damage and the violation of rights occurring in the world, it is considered that more vigorous global approaches are required, which can be contained in the framework of Global Environmental Justice. Thus, the study offers, on the one hand, an analysis of the main views on climate change as an example of global environmental damage. On the other hand, it offers a balance of the evolution of the recognition of the human right to a healthy environment. In both cases, the issues are visualized at a global level and are also enriched from the Mexican perspective. On this basis, the article argues that the perspective of Global Environmental Justice is useful for understanding and projecting the theoretical and, above all, political-legal constructions that will allow for the adequate protection of the planetary environment in the coming years.
