Abstract

On s’intéresse ici au travail symbolique réalisé par deux associations familiales catholiques, l’une française et l’autre portugaise, afin de contrevenir aux représentations négatives associées aux catholiques traditionalistes (passéisme, frustration, hypocrisie moralisatrice, etc.). Pour éviter que ces représentations ne viennent entraver leur capacité de recrutement et la bonne réception de leurs revendications, ces associations développent des stratégies qui se déploient à plusieurs niveaux : elles sont notamment mises en œuvre lorsqu’il s’agit de choisir les responsables, les formes d’énonciation des revendications ou les modes d’action privilégiés. Ces stratégies constituent un point d’entrée particulièrement intéressant pour penser les formes du militantisme et l’organisation du travail dans ces collectifs.
