Abstract
Abstract— In today’s rapidly evolving security landscape, continuous monitoring through traditional surveillance systems often requires constant human attention, which can lead to delays and oversight. This paper presents a smart surveillance system that uses real-time face recognition to automate the monitoring process and improve security efficiency. The proposed system captures live video from surveillance cameras, detects faces in each frame, and extracts unique facial features for identification. These features are then compared with a stored database to determine whether the detected individual is authorized or marked as suspicious. If a known unauthorized person is identified, the system immediately generates an alert to enable quick response. By integrating computer vision techniques with automated decision-making, the system reduces manual supervision while maintaining continuous monitoring. The solution is designed to be practical, scalable, and cost-effective, making it suitable for deployment in homes, offices, and public spaces. Experimental observations demonstrate the feasibility of implementing a real-time face-based alert mechanism for enhanced security applications.
