Abstract

A saúde mental de estudantes de medicina constitui uma preocupação crescente em saúde pública, diante das elevadas prevalências de depressão, ansiedade, burnout e ideação suicida observadas em diferentes contextos. A formação médica ocorre em ambiente marcado por intensa exigência acadêmica, competitividade, privação de sono e contato precoce com o sofrimento humano, fatores que favorecem o adoecimento psíquico. Este estudo teve como objetivo sintetizar evidências sobre a prevalência de transtornos mentais nessa população, identificar fatores associados e discutir implicações para políticas públicas e ações institucionais. Trata-se de uma overview da literatura, conduzida conforme as recomendações do PRIOR e complementada pelo PRISMA 2020. As buscas foram realizadas nas bases PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus e Web of Science, abrangendo publicações entre 2015 e 2024. Foram incluídas revisões sistemáticas, meta-análises e, complementarmente, estudo observacional relevante, com avaliação metodológica pelo instrumento AMSTAR 2. Ao final, 11 estudos compuseram a síntese. Os resultados indicaram prevalências elevadas e consistentes de depressão, ansiedade, burnout e ideação suicida, associadas principalmente à sobrecarga acadêmica, ambiente competitivo, privação de sono, dificuldades financeiras, estigma na busca por ajuda e ausência de suporte institucional. Conclui-se que o problema é multifatorial e exige estratégias permanentes de triagem, apoio psicossocial e revisão pedagógica institucional.
