Biotechnology in Wastewater Treatment: Approaches and Innovations
Abstract
The growing concern over water scarcity and pollution has driven the development of innovative solutions for wastewater treatment. Biotechnology, with its ability to harness natural processes and microorganisms, offers promising approaches for efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment. This article explores various biotechnological strategies used in wastewater treatment, including biological nutrient removal, microbial fuel cells, algae-based systems, and the use of genetically engineered microorganisms. It also highlights recent innovations in biotechnology that improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability of wastewater treatment processes.
